pantea

We’re happy to announce that pantea has been selected as the resident for ‘The Walls Have Ears’, a fully funded sound studies writing residency organised by Sonic Acts and Woonhuis.

Taking place in February 2026 at Woonhuis in Amsterdam, this residency set out to offer time, space, and critical support to develop a focused writing project exploring the act of listening as a radical and empathetic practice for one artist-researcher. Rooted in conceptual approaches inspired by Yoko Ono and Pauline Oliveros, the theme of ‘The Walls Have Ears’ focuses on reimagining sound as a medium of memory, connection, and disruption.

With a practice attuned to the poetics of the unheard, pantea’s work resonates deeply with the themes of the residency. Born in Tehran, Iran, in 1992, pantea is a cultural worker, artist, and writer whose practice explores how sound translates ecological connection, collaborative survival, and the politics of what is often silenced or overlooked. Her work spans listening, walking, writing, cooking and making – things, relationships and forms of hospitality. In 2021, she was a Sonic Acts OVEREXPOSED resident, and in recent years, she has been navigating the slow violence of immigration systems – thinking through how struggles across different contexts intersect. She is currently pursuing a practice-based PhD in Music at St George’s, University of London.

As part of the residency, pantea will develop a new writing project, host a public event at Woonhuis, and give a lecture during the symposium of Sonic Acts Biennial 2026. More information and updates will follow in time.
